What happened to the Backlot?

Wow. This is really a shock to me. I thought we had cleaned up our act. I hope this has nothing to do with the S2k dude linking up to some buyer dispute thread... I don't think we should all be punished for this. Well.

I predict these 2 things for 2010:

A)Off-Topic is going to get really out of control
B)Half of us are going to get banned.
Really? You think organized thread-crapping by members of your clan is an appropriate use of space that was provided to you? I don't care either way, I'm just curious why you think that the actions of the backlot members, violating the site's TOS, should exist without consequence to said members?

I think the best plan of action is to retreat and fortify the Home and Garden forum.

"Clan?" Unfortunately, us as a "Clan" have NO say in who is a part of it and who is not. It's a forum that anyone who is a member can post in. Ludedude, I see what you're saying, but Cthree and I have discussed this before, having private user groups for specific forum access is the only way to really consider a group to be held responsible for the actions of another.

It's extremely unfair to punish all of us because somebody who was A) a member and B) puts a BB badge in their signature, did something uncalled for. We as a collective or "clan" as you call it, have no control over that. As far as I remember, that thread that the S2k dude linked, barely had any posts from "regular" Back Lot members.

This is something that really should be reconsidered. That forum added depth and increased membership by a small amount.

Not trying to start an argument.... but again what TOS were violated? This is like yelling at your kid for doing something wrong.... but not telling them what. If we were violating s2ki TOS.... I would think our Backlot mods should have said something to us? How are we supposed to do right if nobody is telling us what we are doing wrong?

All I'm saying is that he may have linked it in there but he didn't force any of you guys to go in there, crapping their two cents and then posting back in that thread saying "it's what we do." Because if that's really what you do, please explain to me how that's an appropriate use of site resources?

I went back and checked the thread the_s2k_dude linked to.

I counted one guy (aside from the_s2k_dude himself) that posted images or other 'crap' in the last 2 pages of that thread. Why not send that guy a PM? As for the_s2k_dude, he is a local guy in that area so I certainly think if he wants to crap on a thread there it would be more appropriate for his local forum mods to deal with it.

It is ridiculous to me that one guy who happens to be a socal member AND hangs out in the back lot, by linking a thread, managed to get an entire forum section shut down in less than 6 hours.

not to mention the_s2k_dude is kinda a douche, and doesn't really reflect the spirit of the backlot
