Default What the hell's the difference between a candy bar and an energy bar?

I was looking at one of those promax energy bars and was wondering (apart from the vitamins and extra protein) what the main difference between a candy bar (like snickers or mars bar) and an energy bar....

I mean they both have a huge amount of calories (290! for the promax) and both have a high fat content...I was always told to avoid sugary substances before running/swimming or any intense physical activities because you will burn out all of a sudden....Kinda confused here.

just get some breakfast bars. on sale, you can get a box for $2. i think there are around 10-12 in a box. i always have a couple of boxes in the trunk of my car. they give you the pep you need when you are feeling sluggish. i always eat a couple before working out, and it provides me enough fuel for 2-3 hours.

btw, don't worry too much about vitamins and protein in an energy bar. make a habbit of taking multivitamins daily, and if you really need extra protein, then eat a can of tuna. yes, you need vitamins, protein, and even fat, but getting them from energy bars is just an expensive way of getting them.

Same shit, more money and less tasty.

Stick with the candybar, if you're going to eat that kind of crap.

All of these bars are a marketing gimmick. They don't contain the protein, and they always have more than the listed amount of carbs. It's a big scam.

So you pay more for a "glorified candy bar" that doesn't even taste as good as one.

Believe it or not, moderate amounts of dark chocolate are good for you.
