Default what is money for exactly

there was a debate starting in one past about what the s2000 is worth. some said that it made them have a lot less money in the bank. some said it made them smile more though.

to me, the purpose of money is to come as close to possible to buying happiness as possible. every intelligent person knows that money cannot directly buy happiness, but it would be an optimal world if true happiness was readily available. than working might make more sense.

the question is, what is the exactly purpose, in the ultimate end, of money having it, earning it, spending it...

Beer. And as you get a little older, red wine.

Firstly money is there to let you survive.... to pay for your basic needs of a home, food and warmth.

Once you have that, then all the rest of the money you have is just to make you happy, whether you spend it now for immediate happiness, or whether you invest it in order to ensure future happiness.

i would say it's to help improve a society's overall quality of life by providing a stable and versatile method for quantifying and transfering goods and services. money (theoretically) helps us get ourselves in a position to pursue happiness. like in maslow's hierarchy, you can't get the invaluable goodies at the top until you build the foundation with things you can buy, like food, shelter, security, and sex. ok not sex.

I'm not so sure.... I think sex would be pretty close to the top of my list of "foundation" requirements

Let me guess..... you are in your early 20's and just broken up with your first true love??

I am sure that a hundred people have already told you that you will get over it..... well they are all right, you will, it just seems at the moment that nothing will ever be as good again

Keep your chin up and you will be back in the game soon.... positive thinking is needed

short term happiness is ok, can be bad, but at least you get something out of it... long term usually means you forget about the objective while you're working towards it. true?
