What states require a person to pay taxes when buy a used vechile? anyone know????

it's not just used vehicles; should be all vehicles, or none. in NM you pay 3% tax.

Michigan....6% on the sale price....buying from a dealer you are pretty much stuck, from an individual you could fudge some but don't try to say you just bought 3 year old car for $500 without unimpeachable documentation.

All I know is when I bought my S from TX and registered it in GA, I paid no sales taxes.

Any vehicle, new or used, is 5% in Massachusetts.

NC has i think a 3% tax and every year you pay a property tax.
SC has a $300 tax limit with a higher annual property tax.
something like that.

No sales tax if bought from a private party in Arizona, but if you buy at a dealer, you get the shaft.

All vehicles sold in MD, new or used are taxed. It was and may still be 5%, or they may have raised it to 6% at the beginning of the year, not sure.
