What would it cost?

Just sold my

2600 sqft (includes finished basement)
3 br
2 car garage
1/8th acre postage stamp size lot for
$328,000 (bought new construction four years ago for $191k)

to buy this house to be built and finished 9/15

2700 sqft finished
1300 unfinished basement
3br
3 car garage
1/2 acre wooded lot in suburbs
$365,000

I moved from a starter home in a posh suburb and sold that "posh" premium for a "lesser thought of" but still nice suburb for WAY more house but not too much more $. Prices have been crazy the last couple years but are slowing down. The house you describe would be $220 -280 here in Twin Cities area depending on location and age.

Here in Omaha, a house like that would cost $150,000-$200,000.

The downside, of course, is you have to live in Omaha.
Dayum, houses in Massachusetts are so overvalue then.

For the amount I paid for my house here, I could have bought a mansion there.

I swear, if the market keeps on going up and my house value double, I will sell it and move to another state and retire.

Maybe Ohama?

I dont know...

My house = 4000 sq ft, 12000 sq ft lot 4 bdrm 3.5 bath

We paid 200k 5 years ago.. And to be honest, Wed probably get 300 out of it.. (We completely remodeled with marble things and such.. added an inground pool/jacuzzi surrounded by patio and garden)

CA money could take you far in Johnstown PA..too bad Johnstown is one of the most depressed cities in the U.S. because of the city according to U.S. Times...Ha..

Homes def dont appreciate here enless you put your money to it, weve put more than 100k into the house.

200k here in Texas probably. If I were from california I would invest in some property.. sell it within 5 years and move down here in Texas where you can almost live a life full of luxury with the money you earned.

$1.5 - 2.0 million in my part of LA (edit: 4 bedrooms would be pretty rare outside of Hancock Park). That may not be shocking, but a 1,000 sq ft can now push above $1 million here if it's in the right location. My apartment is about 950 square feet.

If you're interested in this stuff check out a show called "What you get for the money" on Fine Living. They pick a price and show you six homes across the country for the same money. It's one of my favorites, actually.
