I have the suv and s2000 scenario as well but no kids. I would do one of the following:

buy a used acura legend or honda accord as the "family car"
or
sell the expedition and get both of above - better gas mileage, insurance savings on the s2000(becomes pleasure only vehicle), etc.

personally, when(and if) I have kids, I would like to have the third car because there will be a time when one of primary vehicles needs to go to the mechanic and I don't want to have to rent something I don't like to drive.

Trade in the S2000 on a used M3 or S4. Practical family car.

What's your price range?

New generation Accords are very roomy.

Perhaps you should consider a vasectomy!

i would be practical and trade in the s2000. as a parent(i have 6 kids) i know what a hassle it is trying to have alternating pu/drpoff days with my wife. what if there was and emergency, what if your other car is in the shop, what if your spouse is late? too many unforeseen problems. if you have a family, i mean more than 2 people, than the s2000 must be a pleasure vehicle. i just sold my volvo v70awd r wagon. not that was a great car. but with a 7 pass car and 8 people in my family it wasnt practical. get a nice volvo wagon, they come in 5 speedw turbo, then when it is possible, get another s2000. just my opinion.

Nice...thanks for this one. Would you take your own advice???

qmahmudapex - Thanks for your input. My main conflict is around your point, that too many things are unpredictable, and trying to arrange who drives what on what day can be a major pain.

Well, I'm still mulling this one over.

Thanks again for everyone's feedback! I'm interested in hearing more and/or obtaining more votes.

Erik
