Have you tried this carwash http://www.thecarwash.ca/ There is one in Calgary and Regina. The Regina location is not open 24/7, but every time I drive by there is always 6-10 cars waiting to get in. You have to have the swipe card as you can put money on it like a Tim's card and saves you money as you get exact time/money used.
I haven't been to that place before! Unforunately it's way the heck out of the way, which means that most people who frequent that area probably live in the suburban communities that surround it. I'm not sure if it makes it more likely to be used, or less likely because people can just have a quick wash at home Then again, I do know a lot of people who use them because they don't want to deal with the hassle of washing at home.

I think the best area for self washes is in dowtown areas where condos and apartments are common. Though some high-end condo buildings do have a wash bay in them, most buildings don't still.

Now I'm in to full speculation and guessing

this reminds me of a project from school. bascially the business was that the company/person would drive your car safetly home. kinda like a taxi.. so it would take two cars and two ppl, one would follow to the destination and have to be driven back, avoiding leaving a car to vandalism, tickets or tow.
The one I heard of was similar to that, but it was a one-man-show where the guy had a fold-up moped. He would chuck it in the trunk of the car that he was driving home, and then pull it out and be on his merry way once he got the drunk bastages to their destination.

How popular do you think auto-enthusiast targeted shirts would be?

Like a shirt that said, "Life begins at turn 3..." or "Live. Love. Laugh. Vtec."

Or possibly having dog-tags that could serve as necklace pieces or key-chains. Something like, "Shit-box Engage Key" or "The Key to Happiness" for the key-chains. "AP1 Militia", etc. for the neck pieces.

All offered as group-buy things for initial sales purposes.

In my freshman year of college I walked out of my Calculus class and was greated by some random guy asking if I was interested in making some extra spending cash.
Pretty much he ran a tutoring service for middle/high school and college kids. I was a tutor. I'd drive to the kid's house, tutor them for as long as needed, then report back to him. He would pay me $15 an hour, under the table. I'm sure he charged the parents like $30-$35 an hour(certified teachers on average charge $50+/hour for private tutoring sessions)... Something you might wanna look into.

To this day I still do it on the side... usually tutoring high school kids in chem or algebra. I charge $25 an hour and usually do about 3-4 1 hour sessions a week. Having a fleet of 5-10 bright student tutors would basically do most of the work for you.

I also do like a mobile-mechanic type service. Oil changes, brake jobs, suspension work, etc. Pretty much Anything I can do in a p/l with simple handtools. I've also set up a deal with a local alignment shop that I send customer to after I do suspension work. They pay me $10 for every car I send them. I know the owner pretty well.

This is just stuff I do on the side to make some extra cash. It's really not a steady income as I'm not a certified teacher or mechanic and I work it around my job schedule so I can't really turn it into a full time job... But these are a couple ideas you might want to look into.

-Designing funny/catchy t-shirts of some sort
Been around for decades. Nothing new there and you won't be original.

-Logo design/consulting
Sure, lots of jobs like that on Craigslist, pay is $25 if you're lucky. Maybe a free week old sandwich once in a while, deducted from your pay.

-Tutoring on a larger scale
Become a Televangelist and scam viewers out of their last dollar...you might have something there. Nevermind, you'll just end up going to jail and being Bubba's bitch.

-Proof-reading/consulting for business memos going out to their clients
Not with that grammar you're not.

-A new air-intake for the S2000 market that would prevent heat-soak, hydro-lock, and be a short ram capable of power gains
Not enough S2Ks to make it profitable and more are being totaled everyday.

Nope, put those combat boots back on and grab an M16, you're goin' back into the military...or gay prono.

Beer delivery service, maybe you could even get some kick backs from some state organization because it keeps many drunks off the roads..

Has anybody else ever thought this would be an amazing idea? Yeah you'd have to hike up the retail a little bit but I don't know how many times I've (and friends) wished someone could deliver beer to your door.
I'd be a customer thats for sure.

When I was a teenager there were two companies that existed that we'd call. Liquor Express was the name of one. They've been around for year!

If I remember correctly, there was a 40-50% mark up on prices vs retail.
