Yes Forrestor will be test driven as well.

The IS300 Sportwagon does not come in manual tranny. Also it is rear wheel drive....Subies are AWD.

All in all, keep the suggestions coming....I like all the ideas so far.

My wife drives a '98 Outback wagon. Here is my thoughts on it.

I like the looks a lot, fake air intake and all. The all-wheel drive is great in any weather and it gives out great confidence at speed in turns. Clearly it has been dependable as a rock.

You mentioned dogs, and the steel gate divider installs in seconds and works great. We too have a dog (had two at the time of purchse), three cats, and a horse (saddles, etc.) and it works great. She totally loves it.

For me, it has two drawbacks - the seats sit too low (for me) and it lacks the kind of pickup I would like. Both of the drawbacks have been resolved with the new models, however, the price tag has pushed it past $30k.

All the GT models (non-Outback) I've seen have been $28K or less out the door. The one I'm looking for is a 2001 GT wagon, 5-speed with all the fixins which I would pay $22,800 out the door.

If I go for a '98 model with only 2000 miles, the dealership has one at $14000 and I can probably work my way down to $13,500 if not better.

I do love that car!!! However, with money the way it is, and plans for a new house in the next few months doesn't allow me to own three cars (two of which would be impractical). Owning two 2-seaters which can only carry two or three bags of groceries at a time is impractical to me....also, I seem to be feeling like I'm getting too old for the import show scene.

As far as the shaved handles, yes I pop them open with remotes that actuate poppers. I, too, thought of putting them on the S2000, but I think that I'll stick with stock for now. I doubt that I'll go the show route with the S2K.

Boxster twin-turbo and quite a luxurious setup, compared to your Prelude. There are no doubts about it. It's quite a good car and has great modifications prospects if you decide to put your money into it. It's like taking the family for a race, just like the JDM AuTech GTRs. Same concept and idea, only this time it's a Subaru instead of Nissan.

hey luder....go for the WRX man.......you'll love it.....or any subaru for that matter.....whatever you get...find your way over to www.i-club.com and chat with all of us fellow owners....

by the way: get the Sport Wagon (same overall length, etc... as the sedan) but the insurance companies count it as a station wagon while the sedan is a sports car...hehehhee

Everyone I talk to after I bring up that I want a Suburu wagon points me in the direction of the Rex sport wagon. I would LOVE to have that car, however, I kind of need something with a little more carrying capacity. I think my choice may be the Legacy GT wagon with the 2.5 boxer.....think turbocharged for the future.

They are called "door poppers". They've been used on old hot-rods, and California trucks. What they used to be were small solenoids that either opened or shut the doors. However, the solenoids had more possiblity of failures, so today's popper is nothing more than a solenoid that unlatches the door lock from the lock pin. On mine, there is a heavy duty spring in the hinge area that "spings" the door open about 1 inch after the door lock is unlatched.

So, I hit a button on the remote, and the door pops open. I hit button two, and the passenger side door pops open.
