What are your thoughts on the prelude?
Last generation Prelude was what I really wanted when I was about to get a drivers licence at 18 yrs old. (The allowed age is 18 in my country). What hooked me up was a test drive from the dealership. The thing I liked the most was the 4WS. It was awesome, the car felt like it was hooked to the road. I never got the Prelude since I came to US for college.
I almost got one here. I got a good deal back in 98 and I was on my way to the dealership but decided to stop by the Audi dealership because my friend was looking at cars as well. Well, they made an offer that I could not refuse.
Maybe someday my Prelude dream will come true. I am looking to buy a S2000 right now so I guess I have to wait until I can afford a second or a third car.

I've had my Si since '94. . . Though I love my S2000, there will always be a soft spot in my heart for the Prelude. . .
Personally, if I had to choose between a Prelude or a S2000 it would come down to two questions. . .
1. Is this going to be your only car?
2. Are you going to be driving in "bad" weather for a considerable portion of the year?
If you answer YES to both questions, I'd recommend the Prelude (either way, you'd be quite happy). . . IMO, the S2K is not a bad weather car. . .

When the Prelude was introduced in 1979, it was based on the Accord platform but with "sportier" 2+2 interior styling, better bolstered seats, and some suspension differences. At the time it was considered a high water mark for Honda as they attempted to move upscale. Today the Prelude (soon to meet it's demise after 2002) remains an excellent sports car for those who need a rear seat (albeit small), a trunk, and an overall fantastic handling car. It has appeared on Car and Drivers 10 Best list a number of times. My 1989 Si now has 130K on the clock but still drives perfect, has great ergonomics and because of its pristine condition, is sometimes mistaken for one of the current generation cars. When my S2000 arrives, the Prelude will remain as my daily driver and also my winter car
You really can't go wrong with any Honda product, but the 'Lude will always have a spot in my heart and in my garage

I have a 1998 Prelude SH and im not getting rid of mine. I love this car. I read honda's press release and it states tha they are going to have a replacement in 2003 that will be built here...lowering the cost of the car. I went to honda's site to look at the sales for this month. They only sold 833 Preludes this past month. Yet they sold 1300 S2000's and 2000 Insights. So I guess they arent selling well. RIP Prelude. I hope the decide to keep the name when it returns.
