What's the difference between white shelled eggs and brown shelled eggs?
The difference is from the different type of chicken. Brown is more expensive because the hen producing them are not as common. It has nothing to do with being 'organic'; whatever that means.
I thought the white eggs were the unfertilized ones cause my family owns a chicken farm that specifically breeds for growing chicks and raised to be put on store shelves. Of ALL the millions of eggs Ive seen, NOT ONE was white. All brown. THeyre tastier than white eggs thats for sure
I think the color of the shell is determined by the breed of the hen. From what I've read, the only difference between white and brown eggs is the color - supposedly there is no difference in flavor or nutritional value.
I had a client who had Araucana hens. These hens lay green/blue eggs. She would bring me eggs from time to time, but since I'm not crazy about eggs, I never tried them. They were very pretty though.
A bit off topic, but anyone here fancy (or ever try) balut?
