What's wrong with bringing back some "cruel and unusual punishment"
Yesterday I was driving to an account listening to the local news. Apparently someone had taken a kitten and hanged it. The poor kitten died - the evidence showed that the kitty struggled and suffered mightily before dying.

people in the u.s. get away with too many things.
one thing that really bothers me is when somebody i know got 12 years in jail for beating up someone(when he got attacked first) and then some fool can shoot 2 people and only get 3-4 years in jail(in some cases). somebody needs to set a standard for setting jail time, it's not fair.

I would LOVE it if they brought back cruel and unusual punishment. And if they showed it on TV, it would be a nice way to raise money. I'm also a fan of immediate death penalties for felony charges.
I'd be willing to bet that the crime rates would go waaaaaaaaay down if we had some serious penalties.
Think about all the repeat offenders who end up back in jail. Obviously, the current punishment is not working.
If someone steals, cut their finger off. Tell them the next time, it'll be their whole damn hand that gets chopped. Think they'll do it again?!

harsher penalties do not, and will not deter crimes. How many people go on death row every year? How long has the death penalty been around. When people commit crimes like these they usually dont think about the possible consequences, they are not rational people. A harsh penalty, MAY deter them from doing it again.
