Sounds like John Leer. If it is by John Leer, he is kind of a fruitcake. And in this case "kind of" means "a super huge".

not leer, I think it was Col Corsoo who is more credible with a nice background. Another author I beleive was Randolph who mentioned Delta Force also.

Book = Day After Roswell? By Col. Corso?

Sorry about changing the topic of the thread but this is a good boogeyman story. A friend of mine went to a high school graduation party of his buddies. His friend's dad was ex-military and worked for the secret service (or so the story goes). This guy's father would never talk about what he did, ever to anyone. Anywho.... this buddy of mine is at this graduation party and walks up to this kids dad, who is sitting in a chair by himself sipping a gin and tonic, and he starts to badger him about what he does and why he won't even talk about it to his kid.

That is when the father looks my friend right in the eye with a very serious look on his face and says, "Erik, do you believe in space aliens?" and my friend says "no". He glares at my friend and says "You should." and goes back to sipping his drink. It creeped my buddy out for weeks.

I personally think he was having fun with an 18 year old kid, but it makes for a good story.

Anybody watch those shows on Discovery or TLC about Seal training, Ranger training, sniper training, military survival school, etc?

I love those shows. The "Making Marines" mini-series was my favorite. Awesome show.

I hear that those contractors killed in Iraq were former Special Forces guys who get paid up to $100k working for these security firms. I don't know what the SF guys get paid, and $100k would throw the whole military pay structure out of whack, but pay em at least $60-$80k. I don't mind if it means a little more out of my paycheck in taxes.

There is some interesting stuff about these coast guard rescue jumpers in the book The Perfect Storm and I read somewhere about air force rescue teams as well, they are supposed to be some of the most highly trained military guys anywhere.

I did talk to a guy who was a SEAL in Vietnam and he said some of the toughest mofo's he's ever seen were the Korean ROC's. He said they were just like real life Rambo's. That was before Delta's though.
