I actuall work in the digital video and broadcast industry. The funny thing is, I worked with a lot of people in this industry hat don't own a TV. What's up with that!!! You're in the TV business, and you don't own one. Never did understand that. As for myself, I just own one TV and I have cable. I can't put up a satellite dish in my complex. I used to have free DIRECTV, since I used to work for them, but I could never take advantage of it.
I grew up in a large family that didn't have a lot of money. Although we had a TV, when it broke (they used to do that more often) my father was not in a hurry to get it fixed.. once it stayed broken for over a year. As a result I don't watch television regularly and cannot relate to childhood memories of TV shows that many of my peers do. As an adult many years later I bought my parents their first color TV. Now in their 80's my father watches too much TV, but my mother still doesn't, she reads at least two books a week.

I remember baseball on the radio, as well. My dad wasn't a fan, but my uncle sure was. When we'd go for a visit, I can still remember walking by his room on hot summer evenings, seeing only the glow of the radio dial and the ember of his cigarette as he lay in bed listening to the action. Poor bastard, the cigs eventually killed him.
