Once in a true fashion, and once when I was young and still not totally understanding of love and life.

My grandmother gave my brother and I what we consider the best advice with regard to girls . She would tell us " You can't be dumb enough to think that's she's the only woman in a world this big that could ever you make you very happy" So when ever I would break up with a girl I would give her a hug and kiss, pat her on the a$$ and thank her for playing. I've been married now for ten years and would give my life for my wife but if she one day decided she wanted out ,same deal I would thank her for her time and find her replacement. I live for the moment what happened in the past is yesterday's news .

Once, it took me 3 years to get over it, and now 7 years later, it still haunts me

WFO Racer, I can't believe after 10 years, you could be so nonchalant about your marriage. Having been down the "D" road, I know, despite trying, you can never run from the past that easy...it's what defines us. You may think a pat on the ass and "thank you for playing" will get you back on your feet within hours but you're only kidding yourself. A divorce, for whatever reason, is not something easily forgotten no matter what the circumstances either for or against you.
Consider it much like an amputation. You'll survive but a part of you will always be missing.

On a positive note, most men will be lucky to have one or two really great loves in their lifetime. First loves are always memorable but rarely as passionate as "the" one. Some of guys will know what I'm talking about and it's not defined by how often you see each other either. "Distance extinquishes little passions yet intensifies great ones...like the wind which can burn out a candle and yet, feed a fire." --Fran
