Haha - Laff out loud at Ckits "A day in the life of".

Books a million is pretty chill and it pays the bills; although, I know some people look down on kids buying cheap s2000s, but i've paid my off so I feel accomplished.

Books a million is pretty relaxed, and plus I get to read lots of books which is fun. I secretly read Tantric sex and Kama Sutra books - but atm i love dan brown and Robert Jordan (who sadly passed away a few weeks ago).

like creative how?
anything besides what I do I would consider creative. Most creative I get is if I have to make a tool to get a job done. But then you really only get to use it once or twice so the fact that you got to do that is kinda lost. Ive actually found a couple of things that I had to make that I have no idea what they do now, it's been that long since i used them

You're working on the wrong projects, IMHO. Step up, step over, or step down.

I love the fact that I'm more-or-less emotionally detached from my job. I spend more time putting hard work into my hobby/craft, and that's
Unfortunately, I don't have any say in which projects I get to work on. This is my first job in the financial industry. The budget for the division and projects for the year are all decided by a steering committee. The real bore is that the apps are for back office use. It doesn't take much to design these systems.

My previous jobs were much more challanging but stressful because I'm always at a client site fielding questions. And I got to work with different clients in different industries. Now I'm just catering to internal clients.

Hence, I've put less focus on work and just try to enjoy life outside of work.

I hate my job most of the time. But they just raised the top of the salary grid for my position by $50k on top of what was already decent in the first place. I also get 6 plus weeks of vacation a year.

So my choice is to go back to get a masters, to get into something I might like better, which may then actually have a lower top of the pay scale, or grin bear it and and enjoy my time off.

Its just a job. Would a fun job be better, sure. But there are so few so I just make sure the other stuff in my life is more fulfilling.

Procurement consulting eh? You should respond to all the threads in car talk about, "What should I buy."

Tell them you are an expert and then send them a bill.
