Sorry to hear about your ailment. I know with SSRI's it's hit and miss until you find the right one that works. You generally have to balance out the side effects to the improved quality of life. Often these can cloud your thought process and you won't be able to think clearly, but if you're not obsessing or going through your rituals as much you're better off. You probably had to go through the whole gambit of SSRIs before you found one that works - Luvox, Prozac etc.

I'm surprised that you weren't given a benzodiazepine as well - Clonazepam, Alprazolam,Diazepam or Chlordiazepoxide - most common for those of OCD.

Cognitive behavior therapy, probably the roughest thing someone like you can go through, may also be an option (if you're not already doing it).

I know what you mean. I wasn't on any drugs for conditions, but "self medication" is only thing that can get rid of my headaches. I have yet to find a better pain killer.
