I usually start the week with $100 or so, use it for gas, etc.

I know a guy who never leaves the house without $10,000 in hundreds.

Ballin'. Aren't you limiting yourself then?

My comments were to those that literally carry no cash, not even a cent. I usually carry $30 or so and use credit most of the time.

Always a few hundo in my pocket. For me it's harder to spend when I have to hand someone my hard earned cash. Debit/credit is way too easy to get into trouble with.

I only spend cash, in general. We live on a budget (ie, we monitor and control how much we spend) and the easiest way to do that is to pull cash every Monday morning and use it for the next seven days.

We write cheques for all of our bills (except those that are done through automatic electronic withrawals) in order to have a permanent record of having paid them.

Bottom line - cash is king for me.

The only thing I'll use a credit card for are online purchases (since I can dispute easily with a credit card) and travel.

I don't know how people can argue that using a debit or credit card allows them to control spending. To me it's a LOT easier when you've got X dollars and you always know how much you can spend because it's all you've got left in your wallet.

A credit card is "limitless" and a debit card is semi-limitless unless you're living paycheque to paycheque...
