Ya it was a great race.
Spoiler below

It's too bad about Montoya. He was running a great race. I think he's showing he has what it takes to race with the veterans.
Needless to say, I'm not doing will in the MB contest with results like this one today

Yea, I was rooting for the upset. It would have been interesting to see how well he did in the rain, especially with the Michelins, which seem inferior in the wet.

It was a great race. Too bad this type of race only happens a few times a year in F1. The others are just a Ferrari parade. Maybe what happened today is a sign of things to come. CART races at Long Beach next weekend and I can't wait. At least Honda can win in CART.

That was a fun race to watch. And I got to watch it live during the day on a Sunday afternoon. For us on the east coast of the US it will be a while before we get to watch a live race at a reasonable time again.

I guess the Honda teams will be off the pace for sure this year. I don't know what caused Frentzen to pull off at the end, but it would have been nice to get a podium finish for one of the Honda teams. Even if it would have been due to attrition.

BMW seems to have out engineered Honda in only its second year back into f1 racing. BMW/williams is for real. Throw in Montoya and Ralf and they are looking very competitive.

Anyway, great race, looking forward to the next one. If BMW keeps it straight line power they should be comptetive again at Monza. That might be another track that will suit them well.

Hey-

BMW-Williams and JPM got screwed big time. Jos was more worried about blocking the guy in back than watching what was going on in front... I mean, a love tap that upsets the car in front is one thing- but taking off the entire rear wing structure and launching your own car is another. It was also nice to also see a former Champ Car champion duke it out with the F1 boys- and actually get the best of them. People have been saying this for years- JPM is the real deal, and believe it or not, there are more of them in IRL and CART that are as good as him. It takes more than talent to win...

McLaren and DC lucked out. I don't think there will be too many more wins like this handed to them- even though Coulthard did have to work for it in the end. As far as I'm concerned, it was well within his talent range to hold off Schumacher's Ferrari. I still think the McLaren is better engineered, and I still think Bernie has a vested interest to have a Ferrari F1 champion...

But wow! Two exciting, unpredictable races in a row!

JV almost won his first race in F1 after being the CART champ and Indy champ. He probably would have won if Frank Williams hadn't told him to back off and let Damon win
Oh I know I am talkin ancient history.
Too bad JV has a crap car now.

funcar-

Remember though- Jacques V. had a Williams that was the class of the field and was a proven commodity- so yes, he's very talented, but...

Montoya doesn't have the absolute best car of series- in fact the current Williams was really helped by the tire war and front end rules changes- not to mention later in the year when traction control (a Williams specialty according to the old paddocks rumors) will be reintroduced. I would say that Montoya reminds me of when Schumacher was at Benetton- when he won his first championship- taking the car that wasn't quite the best and running at the front- almost too naive or too gifted to know how hard it was...

McLaren is still the top car (Brazil was a good demo)- Ferrari is still the closest competitor, and Ferrari still has the more dominant and imposing driver of the two teams. In terms of engines, BMW is ahead of the learning curve abit- and Honda is definitely behind. Jaguar/Cosworth and Prost are not even really on the map- Sauber/Petronas (Ferrari of last year) and Arrows/Asiatech (last year's Peugeot) are taking full advantage of the situation and scraping onesy/twosy points everywhere. Renault seems to be taking this season as an extended testing session- like Toyota, but with race situations. Minardi doesn't even own the map to success... At least, that's what it looks like from this fan's perspective.
