who's changing their spending habits
I'm on save mode, card is maxed out right now, I'll pay it off with the tax refund, and save from there until summer is through, then live off my savings.

Raj, do you know if you're getting sloppy seconds from gov spitzer?
The one thing good thing about thus is that I have some mine to invest and a crash is the perfect time to get in. I'll probably try a refi soon too if the other house I want to buy doesn't cone to fruition.
Nothing changes for me. I'm careful with my money to start, so this really doesn't affect me. I am bumping our weekly budget up 20% to account for the increases, though.
I haven't even looked at my 401(k) to see how badly it's done lately...

I'm shopping for my first house.

So we are technically spending A LOT more than before, but it's different: my wife and I have decided no more $30k cars (I bought a TSX, she bought a loaded Liberty right out of college) and other crap, and we go out to cheaper places now, mostly because of the house. Our next couple cars will be used, and we aren't financing any of the furniture, etc, we buy for our house. Any extra cash is going towards paying down credit cards. So I guess it's more "debt reduction" than "spending reduction."
I'm in advertising so we saw some early panic by companies. Advertising and R&D seem to be the first expense to go from a company budget when times get tough. Recently though we have seen a turn-around. I'm not sure it's optimism or stupidity but many of the local TV and radio stations are pacing ahead of last year in projected billing for the next three months.
On the home front, we cut out our weekly $100 spending trips to Costco and Target. We never did have anything to show for those trips anyway. We also eat in a lot more. I kept track one month of all the restaurant tabs we had and it was over $600. Even I was shocked. Last month it was $160
We are looking at having our basement finished or adding a bay and half to our garage this summer however.
