I've been the the Canadian GP and 4 USGPs. It's a really fun weekend and TV does not convey the speed and violence with which the cars accelerate decelerate and turn.

The sound of an F1 car at full song is unmatched in motorsports. If your any kind of racing fan you should try to make on of the NA GPs.

Montreal is a much better city to part in than indy but the Canadian GP track doesn

Are you kidding me? The Grand Prix du Canada has awesome sightlines, you just need to know where to sit. Casino square is always a good one. You see the cars come at you full speed, decelerate, turn and accelerate.

I was there this year in GS 33 and it was AWESOME. It was where the Jordan and Jaguar mixed it up and spun around.

I agree though with El, TV does NO JUSTICE to the cacophony of sounds coming from an F1 car. It is just pure joy. WHen the cars downshift it sounds like a fireworks show.

I HIGHLY recommend a visit to any F1 race ASAP. You won't be dissapointed.

I went to Indy last year, and it was a great experience. The sound of the cars is incredible, and the souvenir shopping was good.
I sat close to Turn 1, and we got to see quite a bit from there.
I really want to go to the Monaco GP, though. I haven't been to Monaco in 20 years, but I still remember driving thru the tunnel and checking out the boats and babes at the harbor.

I just got back from my first Grand Prix du Canada, with seats in grandstand 10 (along the front straight in front of the podium and start/finish line). A few thoughts:

1. I've had a great time at a couple of CART events. But, all I can say is that by comparison F1 race weekend is a truly awesome experience, especially in a great party city like Montreal. Speaking of Montreal. . . The women, the casino, the atmosphere, close proximity to the US (expecially for residents of the Northeast) and the very favorable exchange rate make it a MUST do event. I will be making it an annual event.

2. At least in Canada, the sight lines are very good. I was able to see the pit exit, the speed down the front straight, and the cars going into the turns 1 and 2 (which saw a lot action this past weekend).

Also, comparing the sight lines at Indy to virtually every other F1 or CART circuit isn't a far comparison. The entire USGP takes place within the infield of an oval track, which by definition allows spectators the ability to see most of the track. Most non-ovals provide spectators with a great view of a portion of the race, and TV monitors take care of the rest. No flames, but if you want to see the entire track stick to the IRL or NASCAR.

3. Tickets to the GPC ranged from approximately US$330 to US$150 each (three day tickets), general admission seating (non grandstand seating) was much less. Tickets for this year's USGP range from US$150 to US$75.

Bottomline, F1 weekend is a great experience. And if you're into more than just F1, pick a venue that offers a great nightlife/other attractions. You will have a great time. In addition to Canada, next year I will hopefully be attending Brazil or Italy.

Thanks for th einfo Iceman. I want to go to Monaco at least once before I die. Before that, I'll checkout Indy (it's practically right next to me) and Montreal (if they have it there next year).

FYI. Canada (Montreal) is locked in through 2006.

Have been to many. The best by far is Spa, sitting at Eau Rouge. Big dollars for the tickets but well worth it. Plus if you VIP passes the talent that cruises the paddocks is breath taking, not like the pheasant stock women that waddle around Indy car or NASCRAP type events.

Key thing is bring lots of cash, not a event to pinch pennies.
