who's seen a formula 1 race?
i'm deciding between japan and brazil right now...china being a distant third. i've heard brazil is crazy, but japan would be better i think.
did u guys just go to the race or did the fri/sat events as well? and has anybody gone thru one of those formula 1 tours or did u just book everything on your own?

I've been to last year's USGP and this years European GP at the Nurburgring.
Definitly go for the whole weekend, Fri, Sat and Sun. You can usually get a weekend pass type ticket for all 3 days.
Get the best seats you can afford. For the USGP, the top price was $185 last year. For the European GP, I think I paid 240 euro, and the top seats were over 300 euro, but they were sold out when I bought mine. The USGP is one of the cheaper races, from what I hear.
The cheap seats are usually just that: cheap. In Indy, for example, they would be lawn seats with no cover over you, and poor sight lines, and cost (If I remember right) about $40.
Bring a bunch of cash, and some sunscreen, and have a ball.
There is one thing Formula 1 is not: inexpensive.

I went to the Canadian GP last year and it was great. The city is great, the girls are hot, and the race was incredible. The sound of those machines is simply staggering, they're so damn loud, you can feel the ground vibrating about 50 feet away and you literally cannot be there without earplugs. If you stand at the right place at the apex of the corners, you can see the brakes light up as the drivers enter the turns.
I went to the Canadian Gran Prix last weekend. It really was an experience for so many reasons.
Pro's -
The sounds of the race were awesome. Obviously the F1 cars take first place. But the 360 Modena's, the vintage cars, the pace cars (NSX & S2000 in yellow) and the safety car Mercedes wagon), even the Civics running the Michelin tire Challenge sounded nice.
Much night life, bars, restaurants. Many people out having fun. And above all cars, cars, cars on the streets. Ferrari's, Lambo's, Vipers, etc
You can work on your tan cause in the stands you are in the sun all day.

While the exchange rate is decent you better bring enough $$$. Official gear or race team gear is expensive. Food and beer can add up. Oh and the whipped cream at Dairy Queen is .30 cents extra.
We walked alot and that is an understatement. The subway was available as taxi's but there were alot of people 250k-million extra for the races.
Hotels go for more money. My kitchen is bigger than the place we stayed at and we still had to pay $200 a night.
Also they were very open about weed use and prostitution. If you like that sort of thing well then this is the place for you.
Taken it all, when you go for the races it makes up for any thing that you might have to deal with.

Here is a little video I shot on the first lap of the 2004 Spanish Grand Prix as the cars come out of the slowest corner on the track.
The video has been dumbed down for internet distribution but the sound is still good.
First Lap
Enjoy
