according to healthypet.com -

Give chocolate to loved ones, and you could end up poisoning them. That is, if the loved ones are your pets.

I had a poodle growing up - and one of its favorite foods wa chocolate. It lived to almost 15 years old (hit by a car). I don't think the chocolate had anything to do with his demise unless the chocolate was what cause his eyesight and hearing to start failing. He was a good dog.

very interesting...seems there IS a plausible reason why ppl are told about the dog/chocolate thing! i was starting to think it was just some bs....thanks!

Though probably not all that common, I've heard of pets having dental problems from owners feeding them foods with sugar. Remember, pets don't brush their teeth.

True, but part of your daily routine as a dog owner should be to bruch your dogs teeth.
