I feed my dogs a raw diet, everything is raw.

They get a lot of raw meaty bones, which act like a tooth brush to them. No dental problems, fresh breath and amazingly clean white teeth.

I wouldn't put my hand in my dogs mouth for any extended periods anyhow heh

My brother in law's dog got into an easter basket last year and ate an entire bag (2lb.) of peanut m&m's. None the worse for wear (100lb. Golden/Black lab mix) but boy did they have a mess to clean up! That thing crapped all over the place constantly for about 2 days!! Yuck.

From what I understand dogs/cats systems have no idea what to do with sugar and it's in fact a bit poisonous in that respect to them, however, it's addictive. Those wonderful "hamburger"shaped patties you used to (still can?) buy for dogs are packed with sugar and if you feed them long enough your dog won't eat anything else but them. Oh, and it'll reduce there life span to about 3-5 years before internal organs start failing. Nice huh?

Dogman - what kind of raw diet do you feed? We've got a 4 year old Golden who eats Innova exclusively (damn near since birth) with occasional supplements of raw soup bones, beef shoulder bones and rice/grain/hamburger mixture if I get motivated. For a while we chopped up chicken thighs and backs for her but she won't just chew them up, she swallows them whole so we quit that since I was concerned about 1/2 a chicken leg sitting in her stomach!
