Why do people move onto golf course and complain?!

Laws vary from state to state, in some cases golfers are responsible for the damage their shots do, in other's its the homeowners responsibility. I grew up on a golf course (while Dad didn't play golf he was smart about location; left side of the hole, green high on a long par-5- we got maybe a dozen golf balls in the 15 years I lived in that house) but have been playing golf nearly 20 years working in the industry for nearly a decade, so I can see both sides of it. No, actually I can understand both sides of it...actually no I can't. **** it. If you buy a home on a golf course you need to realize your home and yard will probably be hit. It's just bound to happen.

A neighbor of ours bought a home about 120 out on the right side of the driving range, honestly the home looks like something out of Beirut there's so many craters in it. It's kinda sad, but they've taken it in stride and just don't let the kids play in the backyard.

The flipside of that coin was where at the course I used to work. There was the member who owned the house 240 out on the right side of the range. Everytime a ball would come within 30 yards of his property, we'd get a call. Nothing more fun then leaving the serene golf shop to go tell whichever paying member was on the range that they need to aim farther left because Dr. Jackson is afraid someone is going to hit his house. I don't miss that job.

The other day a guy ran across the road against the lights (I'm driving through a green) and so, calculating that I wouldn't hit him, I made a distinct effort to let him know I was not slowing down. He proceeded to yell "asshole!" at me as I drove past.

Ignorant people do things and then want to blame everyone else for the outcome. Just ridiculous. Move away from the golf course if you want to avoid golf balls.
I was driving down a road with two lanes each way and a grassy median in between. The limit is 35 and I was doing about 30. Some self-righteous person (lots of those here in San Francisco) pops out across the median, completely jaywalking and proceeds to scream at me to slow down.

They complain for the same reason that people who move in next to an airport complain after they move in.

About 2 years ago I was out playing golf with some co workers and I nailed a window on the second story of the home. It hit the top of the window about 225 out and struck the metal portion which dulled the noise (loud thud). At this point all of us just thought the ball hit the house. When we pulled up a lady came running out of her house yelling an screaming at us. I just stood and looked at her for a few minutes then asked her if she was done and that I was the one who had done it. She then proceeded to yell at me and I told her that she lived on a golf course and I would gladly take care of it so speak to me with some respect. I then told her if she was done yapping that was all I could do and told her to get me a pen and paper so we could switch info. I called my insurance company the next day and they paid for it (covered under my home insurance). By the next whole we were smokin stogies and laughing about the crazy reaction from this lady. FOUR!!

The people that live on golf courses are used to complaining and everyone bowing down to their needs. The rich have too much time on their hands so they can afford to go yell at kids hitting golf balls into their house.

On of the problems I see locally is with farms. You buy a house next to a farm, then complain when the farmer fertilizes his field (read manure) they complain about the smell.
