Default Why does Barney "Must Die"??

My co-worker (whose 2 kids are glued to the TV when it's on) told me about this. I checked google and was shocked to see literally hundreds of website devoted to killing Barney.

Now what did that purple dinosaur do?

Appropriate that you post this now Mingster, Im actually studying counter-cultures at the moment.

IMO People that start websites like that are merely attempting to be controversial by rejecting what the majority of society find acceptable. Their values dont spawn from their own feelings towards barney, but rather aim to oppose something random and innocent with no logical source of motivation.

OK, I'm going to show my age a bit here...but at the heart of the Barney craze...the obsession that not just the children but their PARENTS had over Barney was quite unnerving.

I don't think I could go to work for a single day without hering "What Barney does she want?" or "She has everything Barney" or "There's some new Barney that she wants" or hearing grownups singing Barney songs in to the phone while at their desks:shudder:

But now that the obsession is over and Barney has lost it's place in the lexicon (and the workplace) he seems a bit more tame

Not to hijack this thread but.....

Here, in NY, when Hootie and the Blowfish were about 4 month old people started HATING on them. I mean if you listened to them you sucked. I have no problem with them and think Derrius Rucker is pretty cool, but seriously people didn't just not like this band, they HATED on them. Made a point of it to make a comment every time a song came on.

Way more than any other band around at the time.

Do you realize how hard it is to read the title of this thread? I physically hurt me to try and read it as it is written.
