Default Why does drinking coffee make my eyes hurt?

I'm not an avid coffee drinker, but for some reason whenever I drink coffee (probably 3 times a week), my eyes start kinda hurting...not a strong seering pain or anything...but rather almost like a headache within my eyeballs. Almost like theyre expanding and are about to pop out of their sockets or something....

No doctor here, but maybe you have an allergy. I'm sure that doesn't help, but still.

some people have different reactions to caffine, including headaches. Do you get the same thing if you slam a couple bottles of Mt Dew?

Well, I've never drank a few bottles of mt. dew...I've had a few cans of coke at one sitting. Caffeine kept me up, but no pulsing eyeballs.

I don't get the same effect from drinking tea either....it seems to only come from coffee. Can't quite figure it out. I wonder if its psychological.

Next time you feel this, check your blood pressure. Caffeine, like most stimulant drugs, raises your bp and pulse and is not good for your heart. If you wanna feel alert and awake all day, jog a few miles in the morning.

Quit immediatly! This is a serious condition known as Ocular Cafinitis, and your eyeballs could actually pop out if you consume to much.

Edit: This is not to be confused with testicular cafinitis, which has the opposite effect of causing your balls to recede into your abdomen. They can occur concurrently, however.

Maybe the girl at Starbucks who serves you coffee is really ugly?

That could be it. Perhaps you're also having a bad reaction to the natural ingredients of the coffee, which could be aggravated by the caffeine. One cup of coffee (if I'm not mistaken) contains around twice the caffeine of a can of cola.

Try drinking iced coffee and tell us what happens.

I think it's the steam from the coffee.
