Why does it seem so difficult to relocate?

Default Why does it seem so difficult to relocate?

Basically I've been trying to relocate to the San Diego area for about 3 years now to be closer to immediate family. I always thought that I wouldn't have a problem finding a job before I go, just to have that security. It seems like every job that I apply for, even though I'm often more than qualified, I get no response from employers. I've been recently thinking of just going and establishing residency and then applying for jobs, although I'm not sure if that would make it any easier. I've got enough money to live job free for about 6 months, but I wanted to know if it would make a big difference of applying to jobs in the city/area where I actually live.

Sorry for the long-winded rant. My gf had her resume up on Monster for a day and got a call for an interview in the area we want to go (granted there's more of a market for engineers than procurement, but still). So frustrating!

I've applied to several procurement/purchasing positions and have been recently looking into trial consulting in the LA and SD areas (I have the right degree for this and prior relevant work experience). I have several years experience in procurement consulting, but would rather work directly for a company in this capacity, instead of third-party BS. I have connections to some other industries through family but don't want to have to rely on them. I'm not far away from just saying #### it and working at In-N-Out for a few months until I find something

I was thinking gopadres619 or DreDayLBC (for the LA market).

Are you using a PA address on your resume? That could be the problem. Could you use a family member's local address instead? My wife and I relocated from DC to NC for her job in 2005. Took me a while to get into a new position.
