Off-topic Talk Where overpaid, underworked S2000 owners waste the worst part of their days before the drive home. This forum is for general chit chat and discussions not covered by the other off-topic forums.

Why does it seem so difficult to relocate?

I'll have to say it has to do with the crime, political disarray, pervading cynicism, and general asshole-ishness of the city. Philly is not without its charm but I've grown tired of it long ago.
I've always been a fan of Philly. Actually got a feeling of the "brotherly love" on my brief visits. People on the street were actually really helpful, friendly, and and volunteering directions and and help just because I looked like I didn't know where I was going, without asking them for any.

Then again, Cali has more girls in Bikinis so I know which I'd pick.

Philly seems to be a very kind city to visitors, oddly enough...

When me and my GF moved from NY to NC almost 3 yrs ago, I was lucky enough to already have had a job lined up thanks to my bro. But my GF tried to do the resumes and such from a distance and it wasn't working. Most every place she applied to said if she lived locally, they would be more likely to be able to do something. So she just said eff it and moved. You would be surprised at how fast you can find a job once the pressure is on. Now she's making more than she did when we lived in NY. AND the weather is MUCH nicer. I say go for it. And good luck.
