Why don't we give Taliban evidence?

Our presence in the the Gulf region; our support to Israel; what exactly did we do (incident) that would taint so many Muslim to hate us with a vengeance? The Afghans were at war with Russia for over 10 years; why are the Afghans not as expressive about the Russians being the greatest evil of all evil oppose to us. There seems to be no decisive logical evidence that we deserve this type of hatred from this religious sect. They need to show hard core evidence of all these accusations that the USA is responsible for to be icon as their religious anti-christ.
It is sick to even think that some of our relief funds and support were some how laundered/embezzled into these terrorist camps and plans.

Tan.

Steve, Just keep in mind that OBL has been indited by a court of law, there is a warrant for his arrest and he is on the FBIs 10 most wanted list.

True, but without showing evidence, it kinda felt like we were using the WTC tragedy as an "excuse" to go nuts all over the place. I don't disagree with it, I just felt that our actions need to be carefully justified (and presented as such) so as to not incur additional wrath from those that hate us. I'm very pleased with the article that Palmateer posted. Thanks!

So yeah, what is it about our foreign policy or what events have transpired that make them hate us so? More than anything, that's what I would like to see remedied. Then again, if it's truly our freedom that they hate (as Bush mentioned in his address), or if it's because we sided with Israel...? I don't see what we can do about that....

Thanks for the responses everyone!

I think we're between a rock and a hard place with this Bin Laden guy.

Say we get him, take him into custody. His followers will go nuts, who knows what they would do. If he gets killed, these guys will hold him up as a martyr and revenge his death.

All together its a different kind of war we're facing. The enemy is not afraid to die to get his mission accomplished.

What blows my mind is these guys were hanging out in the US for years, training getting a taste of the American life. Then they decide to get together on a big sucide attack.

Intelligence is a very serious and dangerours thing. Human Intelligence (HUMINT) Operatives put there lives on the line everyday of the week and have done so since you can imagine. Countries loose operatives all the time, including the US keep these events very quiet.

Foreign Operatives are at very big risk when operating on behalf of another another government, if something happens to them then the parties involved just claim ignorance.

Here's a question for you: Who is Jonathan Pollard?

While I could not present you factual evidence I could tell you that he caused the deaths of people for his actions and compromised many others.

HUMINT operations and their operatives have to be protected at all costs. It is nice to see so many people understand.

OSBL will never be jailed because the country that jails him will be at risk from terrorists bargaining for his release.

Here is my proposal to deal with this problem: We should capture him using our special forces (and they should mount video cameras on their guns to let us watch this), and then they should bring Mr. bin Laden and his cohorts to America alive and then they should put him into a rocket full of live pigs and shoot them out into space and let them starve. End of story!
