Why is everything "gay"?
I'm just going to throw this out there, but why is it ok to call something/someone "gay" (unless, of course, they are in fact a homosexual) with the intent of being insulting? I've seen it more and more over the last few years, especially in web forums. Heck even "ghey" has become a reasonable bastardization of the term. There isn't much denying that its being used in a derogatory manner. Nobody thinks its particularly cool to call someone a "fag". So why are we ok with with "gay".

"Drifting is gay." Yes, there was a report in a recent issue of Car & Driver which proved conclusively that the act of drifting a car creates homosexual tendencies in the person committing the act. Extra points are awarded or deducted based on: the vehicle being drifted, the amount of pink in the driver's nomex suit, and the prevalence of fluffy interior accents.
And since I expect that the issue will come up
, no, I'm not gay. Yes, I have a number of friends who are. No, I haven't asked them about this because, believe it or not, none of my gay (as in homosexual) friends are avid car forum readers.
Sorry if this is a stupid question. It just gets under my skin.

To quote the elder statesman Homer J Simpson:
"Everyones gay but me" . Best line ever.
And for the record I have no problems calling people who irritate me (mostly everybody, I'm not a people person) a fag.
But then again I'm a dinosaur, since now you can't pick on anybody without the ACLU coming down on you. Everybody has to have rights nowadays.

I went to Catholic school, and they dont take too kindly to name calling. The principle (a Christian Brother) came into our room to ask why we all called each other "homos" and "fags". It was mainly because of underclassmen (was a Jr at the time) complaining about being picked on.
No one would answer him so I did. I said to him...
Me: "Brother can I be completely honest?"
Principle: "Sure"
Me: "Have you ever called anyone an Ass, or and Asshole?"
Principle: "EXCUSE ME!"
Me: "Seriously Brother, if you or I were to call somone an "Asshole" that person most likely would not in fact be an Asshole. So when someone is called a "Fag" they are not infact a homosexual but they do take offense to it, just like someone would take offense to being called an "Asshole"
Principle: "Okay, I see"
Me: "Its simple really no one likes to be called something they are not, we are not serious when we call each other "Fags" but it gets the point across, just like calling someone a "Dick"
Principle: "Thats enough"
