you should see the mark-up on cosmetics.... it's insane. but the ladies love their diamonds and their expensive make-up, so what can you do? i'm not a HUGE fan of diamonds, but as with any girl, i definitely wouldn't mind getting one. i think we're all victims of the de beers' brainwashing. i also can't imagine having any other rock on my engagement ring... it's just traditional, you know?

 

they are not even rare stones. Low end of semi precious at best.

If a man is expected to buy his significant other an engagement ring, then the woman should be expected to buy him something that is equally expensive, such as a plasma HDTV, down payment on a new car or something that is close to what the diamond ring is.

BTW, people like Joan Rivers should be shot. She equates how much a man loves a woman by how big a diamond he bought her. What an f'n bitch.

Other colors: Emeralds, rubies, and Alexandrite are all much more rare and deserving of high prices
