We can deport anyone that we want, but not arbitrarily. The government can't just pick someone and say that their visa is done. Non-citizens do have rights in the United States. For example, if a tourist came to the country and they committed a crime, they still have a right to a hearing and will serve a punishment just like everyone else. The difference is that they may be deported afterward.

Under current immigration law, a non-citizen who is a security risk can be detained and deported, but only after a deportation hearing by an INS judge. Recently, the INS has changed their policy so that they can detain anyone for questioning for an indefinite period of time if they are considered to be a security risk and the evidence can be sealed until a hearing is conducted. However, they are still entitled to due process just like everyone else in the country.

People without visas or with expired visas are, of course, entitled to be deported immediately.
I never said they have *NO* rights, just that they don't have the right to be here. Furthermore, we have the right to let or not let in *ANYONE* we want. A country that can't control its borders is not a country.

Those 18 guys lived here for years and no one knew. Why should we take anymore chances?

Were it up to me, I would revoke the visa of EVERYONE from a country that is involved with terrorism. Let them go back to whatever Islamic paradise they came from.

For some reason I am unable to post the washington post article link due to HTML code being off. I am also unable to post attachments. Hopefully, you'll be able to follow this link (copy and paste) to read the article I am referring to. It states that two of the hijackers had been identified by the CIA-FBI a month before the attacks and were placed on a watch list. It discusses others who are here and are also known followers of al qaeda.

Found the mistake in my first post. Both links are working now.

If they've yet to commit a crime they're not known terrorists, are they? I'm referring only to known terrorists and criminals.

Please, if interested in this topic, read the article that's been posted twice. This is the source referred to in this thread.

Look, this is not complicated. Non citizens don't have a right to be in the country. They are here as guest. We get to decide who does and who does not get in.

It is stupid to allow people from a country that is at war with American into America. Would you have deported German and Italian nationals at the start of WWII?

If they are apart of a terrorist organization, they are known terrorists. To my knowlegde, alot of these white supremecists groups that have compounds here in the US have had individual "cells" that have committed crimes. The main organizations aren't touched because a link of evidence could not be found. However, it is common knowledge that the individuals of those organizations can cause terrorism.

Taken from the article, "...., but investigators have not yet found any connection between them and any of the 19 hijackers responsible for the Sept. 11 attacks, according to government officials."

I'll bet you once a connection is made, if it ever is, these groups will be captured, and arrested immediately.
