A lot of people do, believe or not. I do the same thing, but I don't hold on to the cars with drivers in them. If there's a parked car at the corner, I'll do that. If there is a street sign available, I prefer that, cause I wouldn't want anyone holding onto my car. The parked cars at the corner shouldn't be there, so IMO, that's their own fault. We cyclists hold on to stuff when we stop cause our feet are clipped into the pedals and it's a little hard clipping them out, so we hold on to something so we don't have to clip out of the pedals. It's happened to me already where I get to a red light, I try to clip out before the bike comes to a stop, I wasn't able to, and I just fell right over.
