Rumoured to have a V8 (maybe turbo charged) producing 400 to 450 hp with a 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and top speed of 170 mph.

Actually, I hear the I6 Twin Turbo is also very likely, maybe more so than the V8.

Oh, and there are also rumors that it actually may come to the US. Nissan has been slowly pulling at me in the past year. I just might have to consider them in the future (right now I'm really partial to Mazdas, Hondas, and BMW's, and really don't look at much else). However, the new Q45 is absolutely amazing. The new Maxima is really sporty (looks funny in my book, but fast especially with manual). New Sentra is a really good car. The new Z looks promising. I just hope my RX-EVOLV doesn't let me down, or I may have to mosey on over to the Nissan dealer and check them out.

Lovely car. I loathe Nissan for keeping these things from us. I have never understood why they "blacksheep" the market here, where there are plenty of people with the money for toys like this. I alos hate our government for making it so hard for the toy makers to get the toys here in their unadulterated form.

On principal alone, I would probably refuse it even if it did make across the pond.

In Japan, there is a stupid agreement between the auto makers (actually, it is more like a law enforced by gov.) that they will not make any car producing 280ps. For Japan spec Skyline, it will be 280ps max(or about 277hp) unless the law change.

It is well known fact that these engine actually pumps a little more than 280ps. Toyota Supra US spec had 320hp when Japanese version had 280ps. On the video I have, US car was not any faster than Japan car even though 15% extra hp.

Because this stupid law, Lancer Evo VI (six?) with 2L turbo makes 280ps, any 3L turbo pumps 280ps, even 2L non-turbo like S2000 has 250ps. I think that is the main reason why Japanese sports car like Skyline and NSX get spanked by Ferrari and Porsche badly.

If next NSX comeout with 4LV8 pumps 280ps, it doesn't make sense in today's technology.

It was my understanding that the japanese could make the car as powerfull as they want they just can't ADVERTISE anything over 280. But I could be wrong.

Mindcore you are right. Its a marketing thing more than anything. JDM Supra's made 320 (just like here), 3000ZX made 300 (just loike here) and so on and so on.

The thing with the Skyline is...

I heard this car IS US bound, but as a re-badged Infiniti. I cant see the car not being Turbo, its Skyline tradition. Nissan I dont think is much into to SC's, so why switch from something your one of the best at (I think only Porsche cant beat Nissan in turbo tech) to something totally new?

The 400hp I beleive as well, I dont think much higher though. Skyline sengines are solid as engines come, 550hp on stock internals and 8000rpm is everyday news in Japan.

But as I said, Im near certain this car is coming here. I have heard prices in the low 50's for the single turbo (if it comes here), up to low 70's for the twin-turbo V-Spec model (if such a model will be designated so and if it comes here)

I just dont know if it will be the 4-door models, 2-door or all.

God knows if done right, for about the price of a used late 90's 911 Turbo, this will beat anything on the road. And I think out of the box, will give every street legal car in the US a run for its money at almost half their price.

I think that's right about advertising the 280hp. And it isn't mandated by law. Look at all the upcoming cars from Japan. NSX is approx 450hp. New Z approx 300-320. New RX-7 approx 280-300. New Skyline GT-R approx 425. Not enforced.

Also the Europeans agreed to limit their cars to 155mph I think. Everyone abides by this except Porsche and the Italians I think.
