Also, if you use BlackIce Defender, remove it from your system completely. Version 2.9(x) causes bluescreens.

No blue screen (that would be easy to figure out what's going on), just turns black and reboots. I'm tired of troubleshooting this laptop. I've done enough PC troubleshooting for work in the past, and I really don't like the quality of this particular Compaq laptop either. Time to return it and get something else. Thanks everyone for their help.
