My question is why the hell do you need 2 routers. The wireless router with with 1 or 2 access points should be plenty. How many computers on on your network?

I was just about to comment. Is the modem that your ISP gave you a router? If so you should have picked up an Access Point and not a wireless router.
Second, if your stuff is in the basement and you plan to go upstairs outside of the basement you may and probablly will run into wireless signal issues. Wireless signals do not like basements.

Linksys is owned by Cisco now and I've never had a problem with any of their products. I just recently finished setting up a pretty complex wireless setup at my house with Linksys stuff. I have the 802.11g router broadcasting to my notebook and to a separate 802.11g WAP that is functioning as a wireless bridge in my living room that is hooked up to a 5-port switch that my PS2 and xbox plug into. It was actually pretty easy to get set up and it's great not having to run a 50 ft ethernet cable down the hall to play games online.
