Default Wisconsin Court: GPS tracking OK without warrant

Hey guys, first time posting in the OT forum. I read a story today in the Chicago Tribune I thought every car guy might want to see:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-ap-...0,5890193.story

MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin police can attach GPS to cars to secretly track anybody's movements without obtaining search warrants, an appeals court ruled Thursday.

However, the District 4 Court of Appeals said it was "more than a little troubled" by that conclusion and asked Wisconsin lawmakers to regulate GPS use to protect against abuse by police and private individuals.

As the law currently stands, the court said police can mount GPS on cars to track people without violating their constitutional rights -- even if the drivers aren't suspects.
Now, I'm not really a political person at all, but this one really struck a chord with me. Is anyone else as pissed off and scared as I am? How about you guys from WI?

Seems like a good technique for tracking stalkers but scary that the cops can monitor anyone they want to without a warrant.

I'm OK with it since I don't stalk people but if they ever start using this method to catch speeders I'm in trouble.

I really don't think the regular person has anything to worry about.

First it's a stalker....next the legal citizen. It's a slippery slope.

How about this instead....lazy cops....instead of eating donuts....stalk the stalkers. WTF happened to good old police work?

I think the government is seriously over stepping its bounds and have been for a while! What and when are the citizens of this great country going to stand up and do something? We ALL need to band together and tell them it's not right.
