Default Wisdom teeth removed

So, I just got back from the hospital. I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed this morning. Ugh. No pain just yet, but I think the Lidocane and percosets are still pumping through my bloodstream very nicely. I'll pretty much be sitting in front of the TV/computer all day posting while being high as a kite.

I'm not one for taking too many narcotic drugs, so my experience with percoset is somewhat limited (only took one pill after having major shoulder surgery a few years ago). So, if I do take more pain killers and get a little loopy, I apologize in advance for any ridiculous posts I may make.

Figures, the weather is beautiful today, AND my firm is sponsoring a happy hour 1 block from my apartment. Instead of enjoying both, I'm stuck inside all damn day.

I just got mine taken out a week ago. I was in a world of pain a couple hours after the surgery. Once the medication wears off, your gonna be in a world of pain.
I suggest taking pain medication before the stuff they gave you wears off. The first day is the toughest. After that it really doesn't hurt that much.

Oh yeah, make sure you rinse often with salt water!!!!

Cool, thanks for the advice. My jaw started to hurt a bit, so I took a pain killer. Glad to hear that the worst of it is already halfway over. I was lucky enough to have a good friend take care of me this morning, so I have a nice little schedule of antibiotics/pain killers posted in my apt. now.

How long were you bleeding after the surgery? It seems like I'm going to bleed to death out of my gums right now! Sorry for the gross imagery, it's not all that bad in reality, but I've had gauze hanging out of my mouth for hours at his point. . .

Salt water. . . got it. I think I'm supposed to start tomorrow.

Had mine removed a few months back...take the pain pills as directed...DO NOT wait to start hurting before you take them. And remember soup is your friend!

hehe, percocet...yer all lightweights.

I have neuropathy in my legs (nerve damage) and percocet was ineffective. I was on fentanyl (the patch...it is VERY VERY strong) supplemented with oxycodone. I now take methodone, about 40mg a day. Percocet is like asprin to me now; I could take 50mg with no effect

I too have wisdom teeth, but due to the fact I'm on dialysis I have to delay the removal.

Another word of (useless) advice: Spaghetti O's are NOT your friends. They may seem like nice, soft, squishy, friends, but they're actually small, round devils waiting to get stuck down in one of your sockets.

Hope you recover quickly.

Holy crap. . . just woke up from a nap. And the pain medication has worn off. I just looked and it's oxycodone I'm taking. I didn't realize that that was stronder than percoset.

Steven975 - Wow, I hope you're doing much better now. I can't imagine the levels of pain that would render pecoset ineffective. The first and second time I'd dislocated my shoulder, and once when I had a "very aggressive" case of blood poisoning, are the only time's I've had to be given a morphine drip. Both times I was knocked silly and thought it was massive overkill. To actually need the morphine, though. . . whoa. Good luck with everything and get well soon

Everone - thanks for the advice! It's nice to hear how common this procedure is and that everyone has survived!
