I had mine removed last year. Don't worry. You will be fine. Are they gonna put you under, or local, or laughing gas?

I actually think back to my wisdom teeth extraction with fondness.

In preparation, the dentist gave me two prescriptions. One for some codeine, another for two sleeping pills. I took one pill 30 minutes before the operation, pretty much zonked out, took the other about 5 minutes before, and was a goner. Not totally, though - I remember hitting on the nurses. Being on the pills and the gas at the same time was rather fun, actually. I do remember one part of the extraction that wasn't fun, however. In any case, I was driven home, don't remember a thing about that, and sent out some of the most bizarre emails I've ever written in my entire life. First I couldn't get the right keys ("flitted with the cut nurses") and second I was just babbling about all sorts of weird stuff.

And then for several days after that, I'd just pop one of my pain pills and be all tingly and happy and not worth anything at work.

Are you having the procedure done in the hospital or are you doing the "Real men don't go to no stinkin' hospital to have their wisdom teeth removed." version?

as somewhat of an expert in this field, i can say that your brains do not reside in your wisdom teeth. in the male, it resides somewhat further south.............

Ok, am I the only person whose dentist removed them without any pain killers? I had 2 of them pulled a few years ago and my dentist insisted it would be nothing and said that I wouldn't notice any pain. Needless to say without any shots or pain killers the damn procedure almost brought me to tears in front of the hottest dental hygenist. She told me afterwards that I should have asked for the shot. A little to late!

Having my wisdom teeth pulled out was the worst experience of my life. I asked not to be put to sleep...big mistake! I also chunked the pain killers...second big mistake...

I had mine done two years ago. I was at work the next day, no problem. Hopefully you won't get a dry socket, that's when it sucks.
