Very very very much so...
The "Finger Pointers" are the ones that say "XXX is wrong and shouldn't be done." Puritans, conservative people, people who would dictate values for the masses and restrict personal freedom.
I do NOT believe there is a solidified set of morals. Maybe there is a rough set, but I think that the people who try and dictate these, do so to change whatever their needs are, whatever threatens them, or whatever they feel like it is their duty in life as being more knowledgeable or higher or smarter people.
Morals are man-made. Are there reallly any questions about this? Some animals polygamize, but this is widely frowned upon in today's society for people, but maybe not in the past?
Religion, and its role in society, and it's abiltiy to control the masses is the most common tool to keep people ignorant, keep them from being educated, and keep the gap between the "haves" and "have nots." Largely the reason for a high amount of instability in the middle east is their high reliance on religion and lack of infrastructure. If you want to bring it closer to home, why did Bush win over Kerry? Because he won the "Bible States," and yet look at his popular rating now. The people heard what they wanted to hear(good sheep), so they voted for him, and now look where we are. Many believe that we have a lame-duck for the next 2 years.
Please let it be known that I'm not necessarily in objection to the values of being moral, I just don't like the decision being made for me.

For the most part I agree, however there is contention about whether morals are man-made or if they are part of a larger scheme.
For instance read Plato and his allegory of the cave. He roughy states that everything in the "worldly" world has a "perfect" representation up in the "heavens". Meaning anything from "trees" to "justice" has it's perfect counterpart in the sky. Stating that there is a "right" way for everything to be.
This isn't a religious and many people, believe this tacitly or otherwise.
And of course you know that there are plenty of religons that preach morality based off of a higher being.
So there is, I think, always going to be a contention, of whether or not morals are man-made.
However I do agree that they are man-made, and that morals in general are social agreements that have, had, has, it's foundation in religion.
I used to think that religion was "bad", insofar as it kept people down and subserviently moral. However now I think that there is a lot to be gained from religion, if, (and this is a big if), one is open minded enough, and has the ability to see what it is for themselves.
So I guess I don't see the effect, or degree to which the "finger pointers" exist. I dictate my own moral code and that's all that matters. Yes I do sometimes "worry" about others who may be morally "brainwashed", but not too much.
I would like to see more people use reason, but with reason also comes responsibility and that in turn is a moral proposition; it comes around and around... So I try to help people and kids to think for themselves, and that's the best I can do.
I was raised Christian... and "attended and subscribed" the church through high school and such.... since then I have become a bit disenchanted, or I just haven't found a "Church" that I'm willing to associate, or that I believe shares the beliefs, or interprets the values in a solid equilibrium of values and self-enrichment.
My main problem with "churches"(read as my general opinion, don't go down the "but I know of one that ....") is that they encourage people to subcribe to them(attend, pay offerings etc.) but do nothing to really care and make sure that those who do go and attend really grow on their own. For many of the youth groups that I've seen, they are little more than social groups for otherwise dorky people. They do little to help each other through problems other than "have faith in XXX, and it will all be better."
I believe you might not see "finger pointers" as those who are dictating your own moral code as you DO think for yourself, and IMO, that excludes you from the "target group" that religions generally prey upon.
Just remember, the fruit from the tree that Adam ate from was "knowledge." Now why wouldn't we all want another piece of that in us?
I think the world could all use a bit more knowledge and rationale in the people around us.

My girl likes watching pornos. Then she wants to 'practice' afterwards.
