i'm not, but my girlfriend is. she never hangs out with other 'persian' people besides her family, so it's mostly irrelevant.
for those who are confused by all the descriptions above, persian is generally used to refer to an ethnic and cultural affiliation which goes back much longer than the modern day iranian government, although technically the terms are interchangeable these days. (persian and iranian.) my $.02 is that people of iranian descent in the united states call themselves persian and not iranian because so many of them came here to escape the revolution which was followed by a theocractic, conservative, and generally opressive government.
persian people are caucasians, and most of them look considerably 'whiter' than arabic peoples, even though they are technically caucasian too.
