Where did it say lay off the weights

You shouldn't be measuring your progress with the scales alone. Go get a body fat test done and then measure your waist line. That way if you're not moving the scales but your waist is going down you know you're on the right track and when you get your bf tested again it should be lower.

You need to go on a cutting diet. Lay off the carbs until you hit your target weight. Also, more cardio and less weighs will help A LOT.

I'm not going to argue but I strongly disagree with your last statement.

Lifting weights burns cals and increases or at least maintains LBM and the more LBM the higher the metabolic basal rate.

Balance the two.

You wont burn the fat that is on top of the muscle. He is looking for a lean appearance, which requires him to burn off the upper layer of fat. Lifting weights, with a caloric surplus will just make his muscle grow. This is called bulking, the opposite of what he wants to do. When you cut, you lose a little bit of muscle mass, there is nothing you can do about it, comes with the territory. To get the body you want, you bulk 10% over what you want to be, then cut, afterwhich, you will be exactly where you want to be. To lose the fat, he needs a caloric deficit, and if you lift weights, you are promoting muscle atrophy. NOT lifting weights while cutting actually preserves more muscle than if you worked out. We can disagree all we like, but its biology.

I'd guess it's a bit under 2,000 calories. I don't think I'm "starving" myself.
"low fat foods." Cheerio's, a turkey sandwhich, homemade salad with vinegar, etc. Just normal foods, but I try not to over do it.
you eat better than i do

"I don't think I'm "starving" myself"

HUH? Are you trying to say that doing weights wont burn fat that is over muscle?

He is looking for a lean appearance, which requires him to burn off the upper layer of fat.
Sounds like you've bought into the myth Spot reduction. A caloric deficit is just that don't try and complicate it thinking that you'll change your genetics and store fat differently.

because I can tell you now that you're not sub 2000cals unless you're sleeping all day otherwise you would be losing.
Well, I do sleep most of the time haha. But I figured I couldn't be way over 2,000 calories. My breakfast/lunch is about 400 calories, and then I eat dinner. So I don't think a sandwhich and a salad could touch 1,600 calories unless it's a bacon sandwhich. Maybe I'm wrong though, I guess I will start cutting what I eat some more. I would rather be a little on the heaver side, with a low BF, then much lighter, with a bigger BF. I just want to be around 220ish lbs. and have some muscle. So I guess cutting more in the kitchen is in order.

In all honesty... Don't waste time counting calories, don't waste time adding calories, yada yada...

You should know what is healthy and what's not.

Big no-nos... NO fast food. NO ice cream, candy bars ect ect. NO eating late. NO skipping work outs.

Be consistant with going to the gym.

Don't be so concerned about the scale as when you work out more you will begin a transition of losing fat and gaining muscle (Muscle weighs more... so you will)

Pretty much... don't worry about numbers... look at what you eat and how you look and feel.

You aren't competing in anything you know?

One more thing...

Don't eat BIG meals... eat a bunch of little things through the day... speeds up metabolism.

I didnt say no weights. I said LESS weights. Not only that, higher reps/lower weight is what you do when cutting, not the other way. To each their own I guess.
