I don't know how they've made it this long.........


When appliance shopping (couple years ago), Lowes and HD killed their prices.




When I first started building a tool set, I'd exclusively get Craftsman. Over the course of a few years, I could tell a distinct drop in quality.


I needed a ratchet and socket set in a size I didn't have, and wasn't wanting to spend much, so I gave Harbor Freight a shot. I now have a full standard and metric set in all three drive sizes from HF and my Crapsman ratchets and sockets are shoved away somewhere.

How can an $8 ratchet be so mush better than a $30 one? At one point, you could at least say Craftsman was made in the USA, but more and more of their tools are Chinese.


My local store smells, and is always dirty.


They are clearly using the Montgomery Ward business model.

I like my craftsman tools

I did have to return a pressure washer attachment that I bought on sale online ($50), through sears. It worked great but when I went to use it the following weekend it completely broke down. Went in to swap it for the exact same one they had on the shelf and it seemed like everything was going to go super smooth...wrong. I stood at the counter for 45 minutes, and the guy told me over and over how the "online sears" keeps screwing them... because he is now giving me his part for $50 (because that's what I paid...) even though it's currently $80.... took 3 people to let the exchange go through.

But I do feel like the price of their craftsman tools is pretty good if you keep a lookout for when they go on sale, which is fairly frequently. They aren't the greatest but I think the quality matches the price.

 

I bought an ingersoll rand compressor from there and no complaints . They even replaced a flat tire on it that I forgot was under warranty.

 

Sears is going in the shitter. It's what happens when you hire a hedge fund guy to run a retailer.

 

Sears' death spiral into bankruptcy is being well documented on the internet. There are a lot of articles about it. Here's one that kind of sums it all up with pictures:

Sears even has a commercial that brags about how Sears "Always has parking".

So sad, Sears has been an American icon for decades. But I buy everything thru Amazon, I haven't been to a mall or department store for years.

 

Whats happening to Sears is a sad thing. I always make a Sears run if i need to purchase a tool for emergency situations.

 

What happens to a company like Craftsman if a company like Sears goes out of business? I know Craftsman is not exclusive to Sears but I have the feeling that 80% of their products are sold in Sears'. Am I wrong?

 

Craftsman should make there own chain of stores. I bet that wouldn't go out of business
