Would this carfax scare you off?

I'd go for the Dolphin Gray one at Audi of Brookline...

Im going to pass on the car.
I found another one closer to me with 1/2 the miles for 1200 more.
And its RED.

Yum.
Smart move. S4's aren't too plentiful, but they're not too rare for you to pick one up you aren't fully confident in. I've been looking around for a little while, I'll probably pick up a Moro blue in the next few months....but red's been in the back of my mind as well.

Congrats either way.

I have a deal in place on this car. Just noticed the accident on the Carfax. Car looks ok to my untrained eye.
the thing that worries me is how quickly the car had miles put on it and the time between the reported accident and the time the car went up for sale was 1 year and the car only covered 2500 miles in that time....hmmm...makes me think a "kid" owned it and drove the piss out of it, got in a fenderbender and either lost his DL for DUI or something ooor...mommie and daddy took it away. Carfax says it spent time in Amherst MA...UMass is in amherst. Also said it was in Marblehead Ma...which is 70+ miles away from Amherst, so it could be something like a professor communting back and fourth...hmmm.
Audi dealer is telling me that they wont certify cars if they are not 100% ok and I shouldnt worry about the accident.

Their "certification" process doesn't mean anything. Same goes for any other car dealer. I would never buy a nice car that was previously involved in an accident...

looks like you are getting a better deal as far as "comfort" level is concerned

as far as accidents go it really depends on where on the car. eventhough you are not buying the other one in the future just check the vin stickers on the doors hood and trunk. a repainted front or rear bumper shouldn't alarm you. an entire side of a car replaced is a different story

I would be more concerned with the fact that it's an Audi than I would be worried about the accident. I have owned 3 Audi's...2 S4's and an A4 and they were all maintenance nightmares. All were purchased new and were not heavily modified...

no reason to buy a wrecked car if you can buy a non wrecked one unless you get a big enough discount to make it worth your while.

If the car is fine, its fine. I have had accidents in my s2000 that were merely cosmetic, but on an accident report, they sound a lot worse. If its a certified pre owned car, you could breathe easier. Just because the car was in an accident, doesnt mean its trashed. Could have just scraped a bumper.

I feel better having purchased the car with the clean CarFax.
As far as the Audi maintenance stuff, Im fully aware of stuff. I lemoned a VW Touareg a year ago. I liked the 4.2 motor in that enough to go try out the S4.
Im replacing my Mini.
