Which would you buy
i've got a friend selling one for $175 used for only 1 month. i'm only considering this becuase i'm stuck with a free samsung phone i got from cingular. i don't even have insurance on the free phone, but if it does break i'm SOL. so i was thinking i could buy this phone and keep the free one as a back up, plus i won't need to buy a replacement didi cam for the one that just died on me. is 175 a good price?

is this phone worth the extra 75 bucks over the nokia 6102 i can get unlocked for $100. i've pretty much decided that i do need a new phone so its between these two. i'm leaning towards the sony especially because of its camera function. let me know what you all think

I won't buy another Sony product for along time after their DRM debacle.
But I don't like those phones because they will have a short life span due to human error.
Example: If a person needed to borrow your phone real quick to make a call, and you gave them that phone, if they have never seen it before 9 times out of 10 they are going to try and open it like a flip phone. That can't be good for it.

i actually just bought that phone.....it's not bad, the camera is really good in light...without light it isn't that good...also the guy that said about the OS running a lil slow is right...it's not that bad, but it does happen....
the main reason i got the phone was for the memory stick...also i do like sony products....you can obviously take as many pics or as much video as the memory card can hold
but like i said the camera is really good when in good light
you can talk into it without fliping it open, something i just found out...
ring tones on it suck...oh yeah the speakerphone sucks too...but it is bluetooth ready...reason i say the speakerphone sucks is because the last phone i had was the nextel 860i and whenever i would drive ( i have a manual car), i would just turn on the speaker phone on the 860i and it was loud enough for me to have a conversation....but i just bought the bluetooth headset for the sony, no big deal...
oh yeah back to your question:
it msrps for $299.00
$175 isn't worth it in my opinion....reason being is this: cingular just ran a promotion for $100 rebate on it...making it $199.00 with a 2 year contract...
the cingular dealer gave the discount upfront, so i basically paid $199.00
problem for you is, if you really want the phone, like i did, your basically out of luck...they stopped selling them at cingular stores....another reason i didn't buy the insurance, since they said they probably couldn't get me the exact phone....
so basically you'd be paying $275 after all said and done...just depends how much you can stand the phone you have now....
honestly i do like the phone and all my friends do too...
the other thing is, other phones that compare to it, are more expensive, $350-500 range...
i was looking at verizon and the new nextel.....both phones were more expensive...
good luck on your choice...
i'm happy i switched from the 860i...mostly cause of the service, nextel was bad...i definitly do get better service and get v/m's and text messages when sent....
hope i answered some of your questions...if you have any more let me know....the phone also has other cool functions, but i just haven't discovered them yet
