Which would you choose as a beater: '02 Teg or WRX?

The new Integra and the new WRX Turbo are both coming late next year, and I need a beater and stop driving the beloved S2K so often. Which one would you choose? I know my wife's first choice would be the WRX since it's 4 doors, but what about the 220HPs on the new Teg?

I picked new 2000 integra as the beater.
For 238/month, 9 down, you can lease one.
I haven't picked it up yet coz I may work in the city. Just in case I do, I ordered blizzak LM-22s for the S2000.

RS is a bit too expensive as a beater. A beater should be under 20,000 bucks. But again, some people might think a beater should be under 5000 bucks.

I don't know about a 'beater', but the WRX has many advantages as a second car to the S2K. One: 4 doors. Two: Turbo... near equal hp stock for stock but we know which one will have cheaper power adders. Three: AWD.

To me it seams the only time you would drive a 'beater' is when the S2K will not haul all your stuff/people or the weather sucks. Looks like the WRX has the Teg beat in both respects (but man is that front end UGLY).

maybe what's gonna happen is the normal 'tegs are going to have 200 and the itr is going to have the 220 ivtec engine..but from the pics over at tov, the new 'tegs look ugly imo..yeesh..if you want a real beater, pick up an old talon!..turbo awd babee!..hm..or perhaps an A4 to satisfy the wifey..how much do those things cost down there??

Let me tell you, Subaru WRX's are the ones to beat on Australian roads. They are everywhere and with a few mods, eg exhaust, larger intercooler etc the Skylines are the only ones within it class.

There are many street legal, high 12 sec WRX's on the street. Trust me, the cars performance is amazing given the price and reliability. When they sell in the US, you will have the same problem, everybody will buy one and boy, they are hard to even stick close to.

I am currently planning my move to the US from Australia, and the S2000 and WRX are what I am trying to decide between.

The new WRX looks better in real life than those "spy" and published Subaru pictures.

Once again, they are unbelievable, and this coming from a true Honda man.

Brad.

PS. You are recieiving the same model as we have here. The Japanese model is not imorted into Australia. If any one calls it watered down, it is compared to Japan's version, but it still is a very fast/amazing car.

I would choose the WRX but just curious as how a new car can be a beater? Anyway, Subaru has not yet announced the pricing for the WRX and if rumors are true that it will be above 30K it would certainly deter some buyers. Brad what is it selling for in Aus?
By the way WRX is scheduled for release in Spring.

Dan,

Over here the price in Australian dollars is about $49,000 which if bought in US dollars is approx. US$26,500.

Check the Subaru Australia Website out: http://www.subaru.com.au/frame.asp

The STi model is being released in January I think.

Brad.

well, my definition of a beater is a car i can lease for 3 years and drive from home to work in LA's horrific traffic. i don't mean it in a bad way, but if the new WRX is going to be less than $30K then the lease price would be somewhere in the $300/month range - pretty reasonable IMO. the s2000 is just too amazing a car to drive to work on a daily basis.
