Would you do this?

good jobs don't fall in people's laps regardless of where you are, but you have a higher potential of getting and keeping a good job provided you have the education/experience and you know the right people. here or there, she'll probably struggle to get a job. but at least there, she'll have 40K US dollars in her pocket for other things. perhaps a master's degree?

companies nowadays prefer not to deal with people that need work visas. it costs more money on their part to retain someone with a work visa, than to contract a vendor from a different country to do work. she might run into issues with that coming here. i have friends from college that couldn't get their work visas approved and were forced to go back to their country. those who DID have work visas, found it even harder to find work since companies were particular about their situation.
That's fair enough. But whether a Master's Degree makes any difference depends on where you live. There are countries (Philippines and South Africa come to mind immediately) where multitudes of people with graduate degrees are running around jobless or doing manual labor. A Master's Degree is no guarantee of anything in many places where the economy simply sucks and skilled labor supply far exeeds demand. I really don't see what good the $40k will do in the long run. Sure it'll suffice for a while but what happens when it runs out? You run into the same problems.

And yeah, of course companies prefer not to deal with work visas. If I'm understanding the situation correctly, the entire point of doing this is so that this person can eventually become a US citizen and not have to deal with any of that.

From what I read, I believe this lady is coming from Asia. There are many urbanized cities in Asia, in need of highly educated individuals to lead their businesses. If she has 40K in hand, I doubt that the area she lives contains a high number of manual labor opportunities. 40k is a lot of money when exchanged for asian currency.

of course the point is to become a citizen and not have to go through the excruciatingly long process of naturalization, however, there still is a period of time where she must use a work visa and/or green card.

if she's cute and smart. she'd leave your ass. or better yet, she'd use you for the visa. you're paying to support her and she's sleeping with someone that's rich. why would she need you. she would just have you pay for everything in your "aggreement" while she's gettin booty elsewhere.

so for you, you get stuck with being married, no ass, and imagine if a girl you really like finds out about this. that you did this for money. oh and jail time.

This has actually been offerred to my male cousins before through close relative contacts. I don't think any of my cousins have taken the offer. It's always a combination of setups and "incentives". But I've heard of sweeter deals than the $40k you've been offered. One deal through contacts of my immediate family is that the guy gets a house, money, doesn't have to support the wife with money and they get maids! But I think the deal buster, withholding moral values, is the fact that she's an ugly fat woman. Can't have your cake and eat it too, I suppose.

what good are so-called contracts if they are not legal? Sorry, I wouldn't do this on a handshake.
