They've been around for quite a while, though "tabletop" hardly describes most of them. Impressive that they've packaged it so small.
Some of the smaller ones today use powder and ink and then fuse/bake it together to form a part. Others use plastic, as this one does.
Either way, neat stuff and way cheaper than having custom parts machined/cast to build a small working prototype. It's great for checking assembly and repair on parts.
