wtf is this for?!
no offense, but why do koreans have so many procedures to make themselves look more "western"?? first, there's the eyelid thing, now this, and who knows what else?? do korean, in general, hate the way they look or something??
why do women the world over do all sorts of things to change their appearance? and men as well (to a lesser extent)...?
for all the obvious reasons: attracting the "best" mate, sex, money, power... you name it.
but you asked, "do korean, in general, hate the way they look or something??"
I think, in general, no society hates itself. that would be sad. but individuals are always self cricitcal.
then, there's always the message that the media puts out

right, but the thing with koreans is that there is this general trend where most of the cosmetic stuff done to them are to make them look more "western". there's the popular eyelid surgery thing, and like someone else has mentioned, there's also these procedures to make facelines more "western". on top of that, there's a bunch of asian women who bleach their hair till they're practically blonde, and some go as far as putting on blue or green contacts. i know americans undergo plastic surgery and cosmetic transformations as well, but with american women, aside for the popular breast implants, there really isn't a trend in terms of a "look" that the majority is trying to achieve, other than being fit and slim. like i said, i don't want to offend anyone, but do koreans, in general, perceive "western" features as attractive and beautiful, while asian features to be unattractive?? sure, i know american media plays a big role in defining "beauty", but still... there's got to be a deeper underlying reason as to why some koreans are so dissatisfied with korean features. sure, i can understand the slight insecurity if you are a korean living in america, surrounded by caucasions, but i'm talking about koreans, who live in korea, that are surrounded by other koreans day in and day out.
