the reason why I said ABC is because I can relate to the Chinese aspects - I'm not of Korean (Corean), Japanese, Filipino, or any other Asian cultural background, so I don't know how the other cultures deal with similar situations.

I know in K-town here it's actually cool that you can speak both languages.

In Taiwan, ABCs and ex-pats all clamor to speak English fluently even when they can speak Chinese just fine. Hell, if I'm with my friends from the state in Taiwan, I'd prefer to speak English.

Has anyone ever met an EGG? There are 2 WHITE guys in Taiwan that I know personally who're more Chinese/Taiwanese than I am! They speak the languages far better than I do, writes better than I do, and most importantly, you simply can't tell they're NOT ASIAN if you're on the phone. It's amazing, and they call themselves Eggs
I've been called that by Japanese on several occasions. My wife (who's Japanese) was quite annoyed when she found out I was no different than a typical japanese husband.

Then again, the upside of this is that we are compatible with food, music, movies and all.

FOB - Born in Taiwan, came to the US around 7 years old. Father and Mother were both born in Shanghai. My wife is an ABC - Father born in Wuhan, mother born in Hawaii.

I'm throwing in some Pinoy representation in here...

Born in the Phillippines and left when I was 8. But haven't gone back since. If I did I'd probably be considered an American rather than a Filipino.
